Richard Harris – tämän tarinan harva tietää

Richard St. John Harris (1. lokakuuta 1930 Limerick, Munster, Irlanti – 25. lokakuuta 2002 Lontoo, Englanti, Iso-Britannia) oli irlantilainen, kahdella Oscar-ehdokkuudella huomioitu näyttelijä ja muusikko. Hän näytteli muun muassa elokuvissa Mies hevosena, Gladiator, Navaronen tykit, Armoton ja ennen kuolemaansa myös kahdessa ensimmäisessä Harry Potter -elokuvassa Albus Dumbledorena.

Harris oli lisäksi laulaja. Hänen tunnetuin esittämänsä kappale on Jimmy Webbin säveltämä ja sanoittama MacArthur Park. Muita tunnetuimpia lauluja ovat My Boy, A Tramp Shining, The Yard Went On Forever ja How I Spent My Summer.

Harris kuoli Hodgkinin tautiin vuonna 2002. Vuodesta 2004 Michael Gambon jatkoi Albus Dumbledoren roolissa.

Harrisin mukaan on nimetty vuonna 2002 perustettu British Independent Film Awards -gaalan palkinto, joka jaetaan vuosittain näyttelijälle jolla on ollut merkittävä vaikutus brittiläiselle elokuvalle.
